Vivoo Meal Scan helps you understand your meals and build more mindful eating habits through AI-powered food analysis and personalized insights. It is intended for general wellness and informational purposes only and is not a medical device or app; it is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
The recommendations in the app are based on publicly available information from the sources listed below. Vivoo is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, these organizations. For medical or personalized nutrition advice, always consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated using a standard formula based on your height and weight:
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height² (m²)
The BMI categories used in the app follow the adult classification published by the World Health Organization (WHO). BMI is intended as a general indicator of weight status and does not directly measure body fat or diagnose any medical condition.

Your estimated daily calorie needs are calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, a commonly used predictive equation for estimating basal metabolic rate (BMR). Based on your BMR, activity level, and goal, the app recommends a daily calorie target.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)
Your TDEE is calculated by multiplying your BMR by your selected activity level:
| Activity Level |
Multiplier |
| Sedentary |
×1.20 |
| Lightly Active |
×1.375 |
| Moderately Active |
×1.55 |
| Very Active |
×1.725 |
Energy values used for macronutrients: Carbohydrate 4 kcal/g · Protein 4 kcal/g · Fat 9 kcal/g.
Target weight recommendations are based on the difference between your current weight, selected target weight, and estimated daily calorie needs. Calorie adjustments are designed to support a gradual approach toward your goal while avoiding recommendations below your estimated basal metabolic rate (BMR).
